After working as a counter manager for Clinique cosmetics for a number of years, I naturally became familiar with their products including the Clinique Clarifying Lotion this post is about.
Four times a year we were given a gratis to purchase their products so we could wear them while working. Wow, who wouldn’t love that?
This was good for a few reasons.
First, I did not have to spend the money on my skin, hair or makeup products. A definite bonus!
Second, it certainly helped to get to know the product before having to sell it when you had the opportunity to use it first.
And third, it enabled me to close the sale and earn a commission or to recommend something that I thought was better.
I never was good at selling what I wouldn’t use myself.
Would I have ever told my Clinique Rep that? Absolutely not. But I can say that now.
And I truly do believe that the key to healthy skin is to wash, exfoliate and moisturize.
Without doing these three steps daily, you are on the road to unhealthy skin.
Here is a video review from a Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 user, Andrea-
What makes the Clinique Clarifying Lotion so good
Personally, one of my favorites is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion. Even though the price has gone up a bit since I worked for that company, I still use it today. Here’s why:
- It is extremely gentle on the skin with its creamy texture.
- It gently exfoliates the surface impurities that can be left over from a cleanser, pollution, and dull skin (In other words, it removes the dry dead skin cells, which in turn brings out the more radiant skin, that believe it or not, lies beneath the skin.)
- It is mild enough for even the most sensitive skin and can be used twice per day.
This makes the Clinique Clarifying Lotion the perfect primer for your day or night lotion.
If you are into ingredients, here is what it contains
Purified water, butylene glycol, biosaccharide gum-1, cyclodextrin, salicylic acid, millet plant glycoprotein extract, aloe, arginine, peg-10 soya sterol, ceteth-20, dimethicone, ceteth-20, kimethicone, ceteth-2, dimethicone copolyol, hexadecanol, methylparaben, d&c green no. 5, d&c yellow no.10.
In simple terms, Clinique Clarifying Lotion is allergy tested and 100% fragrance free.
Last thoughts
For those of you who believe you have to stick with the same product line to get the best benefits (and I speak from experience), I disagree with this. It did take me time to get over that concept myself.
It wasn’t until I left that job that I realized I couldn’t afford to have a closet full of department store brands, and with the forever changing beauty market I admit I was anxious to try different things.
I began to find products that were not only cost effective, but worked just as well or even better than the department store brands.
But as far as my clarifying lotion or “toner” (the term that is used by most), the Clinique Clarifying Lotion is the product to choose. In my eyes, it is money well spent.
For Dry or Sensitive Skin = you need Type 1
For Dry or Combination Skin = you need Type 2
For Normal or Oily Skin = you need Type 3
For Oily Skin = you need Type 4

Been using Clinique clarifying lotion for about 2 1/2 yrs. and I won’t replace it for anything. It really helps me maintain my dewy skin, and I will be 45 next month. This post is just right on.
